The following instructions may be helpful when preparing for your upcoming surgery. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any last minute questions. We can be reached at Davidson Office Phone Number 704-892-0644 during regular business hours.
It may be important to stop taking medications that prevent clotting such as aspirin seven days prior, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Motrin, ibuprofen, Advil, and Naproxen 1-2 days prior to your surgery. If you are taking Coumadin or another blood thinner, remember to discontinue them as directed by your medical doctor as discussed in consultation in our office. If you take an antibiotic pre-med, please take it as directed before your surgery.
You will feel better if you have eaten prior to surgery. If you will be sedated for surgery, it is best to eat two hours prior to your visit to allow for predictable absorption of the medications. High fat meals prior to sedation can significantly delay the onset of the medicine. We keep the office cool, so dress warmly. You may wish to bring your own music player with you to use during sedation and the procedure.
In order to evaluate your progress and healing, we will usually schedule a follow-up visit in a week and/or a month. If you feel you are having a complication, a follow-up can be scheduled at any time. A fee is not charged for surgical procedure follow-up visits.
Please alert the office to any allergies or sensitivities that you might have to antibiotics. You may be prescribed an antibiotic if it is necessary for the various procedures. Take as directed until gone. For women taking birth control pills, be advised that antibiotics may interfere with their effectiveness.
If you elect to have oral sedation, you must have a ride to and from the office. You should plan not to drive for at least 12 hours after the procedure. Remember, we encourage you to eat two hours or more prior to sedation.
